New Zealand is the last place on earth with thousands of kilometres of fantastic roads uncluttered with convoys of trucks and endless queues of cars. Our convoluted terrain insists that our roads follow the shape of the land and nowadays nearly all but the most remote dead-end rural roads are sealed.

Some of the best drives in New Zealand follow our long island coastline with sea vistas on one side and mountains pushing gently from the other side. Mountain passes link the two sides of the islands often following the path of steep mountain rivers.

We will take you to tunnels (some with wooden frames), sweeping fast open roads, tight and twisty sections, one way bridges ( some you will share with a train), and in some cases roads so little travelled there is moss growing in the tarseal.
